Work Instructions: Wrap Replacement Guide
Preliminary Note:
- Recommended replacing the wraps at approximately 450,000 cars washed if significant wear and tear are found on the cloth.
Parts Needed:
- Wrap (Cloth) (P-M-HB-75-C-T-R-R): P-M-HB|Tommy Car Wash
- Wrap (Foam) (P-M-HB-75-F-T-R-R): P-M-HB|Tommy Car Wash
- Hydraulic Motor Cage Assembly (P-SW-204): P-SW-208|Tommy Car Wash
- Electric Motor Cage Assembly (P-SW-204-EL):
- Hydraulic Flex Coupler (P-M2208): P-M2208|Tommy Car Wash
- Electric Flex Coupler (P-M2223)
Tools needed:
- Allen Wrench Set
- Adjustable Wrench
- 11/16" or 13/16" combination wrench set
- 7ft Step Ladder
- 5 Gallon bucket
- 1/2" Hydraulic Union
- Zip Tie
- Large Trash Bag
Procedure:
- Engage a wash stop.
- Position the ladder in front of the hydraulic ports in the motor cage.
- Mark the left hydraulic hose with a zip tie
- Take picture of marked hoses
- Rip the garbage bag open and cover the brush
- Put the 5-gal bucket in place under the hydraulic hose connections
- Remove both hydraulic hoses and drain the fluid into the bucket.
- Connect both of the hoses with a union fitting.
- Remove the lock collar set screw at top of the flex coupler
- Loosen the lock collar.
- Slide the brush off the wrap arm mount shaft with an assistant holding brush below.
- Lower the brush down to the ground.
- With assistance, raise the 2 brushes & motor housing up to wrap the arm shaft mount.
- Reinstall the lock collar, tighten the lock collar, and reinstall the lock collar set screw.
- Remove hydraulic hoses from the union fitting
- Connect the hydraulic hose back to the hydraulic motor and tighten it.
- Wipe clean the hydraulic connections, and remove the 5-gallon bucket & garbage bag
- Disengage the wash stop & start the hydraulic unit with the iPad manually.
- Verify proper brush rotation, driver side wrap should be turning counterclockwise passenger side should be turning clockwise.
