Work Instructions: How to inspect and replace Hydraulic hoses
Preliminary notes:
- Inspection should be completed every six months or every 100k cars with an annual replacement rotation.
Parts Needed:
- 5' Hydraulic Hose w/ Fittings (P-INS-2015)
- Rocker brush hydraulic hose (P-M2107)
- Parker Hydraulics hose by the foot (P-HYD-203)
- AW46 Hydraulic Oil (P-INS-2011)
Tools Needed:
- Cut-proof gloves
- Safety glasses
- 5-gallon bucket
- Heat gun
- Open-ended wrenches
Procedure:
- Travel down the wash visually inspecting each hydraulic hose casing for any splits, cracks, or protruding metal. For areas where visual inspection is impossible, feel along the hose length for any excessive rub points or exposed wire.
- Inspect all of the fittings for oil drips at the threaded fitting and hose crimp connection. If the hose is compromised or damaged in any way, it will need to be replaced.
- Before replacing any hoses, engage a wash stop.
- Acquire the proper length hose and hose ends for replacement.
- Remove the heat shrink from hose fittings.
- Using two open-ended wrenches, loosen and remove the hose and allow the oil to drain into a 5-gallon bucket.
- Slide new heat shrink over new hose ends and install and tighten with open-ended wrenches.
- Disengage the wash stop and turn on hydraulics manually with the iPad.
- Visually inspect the wash for red drips and leaks at the fittings.
- Inspect the hydraulic oil level in the tank, ensuring it is over low-level level safety float.
- If no leaks are found, use the Heat gun or a wiring torch to heat up and shrink the heat shrink around the fittings.
- This project is to be done when the wash is shut down.
