Work Instructions: Replacing and Inspecting the Glide Plates
Note: This project is to be done when the wash is shut down.
Parts Needed:
- Glide Plates (E-C-PLT-60): https://shop.tommycarwash.com/Glide-Plate-for-Middle-Sections
Tools Needed:
- Cut Proof Gloves
- Flathead screwdriver
Procedure:
- With a partner one on each end pick up a glide plate. Should be able to pick up with hands but may need a flathead screwdriver to help get free to lift.
- Inspect the edges of glide plates on both sides and ends. Check for wear on the plate’s edges, cracks, or dents.
- If no wear is noticed, place the Glide plate back down and inspect the plate next to it.
- If there is wear, but not very extreme, then the plate can be rotated. If the wearing is on the inside of the plate rotate it to the outside. If the wear is on the outside of the plate leave it on the outside. Don’t leave thin edges in the middle.
- If the edges are worn dangerously thin, then replace the plate.
- Do this on all plates in the tunnel.
- There are welded glide plates at the exit next to the sprockets and the entrance next to the drums. Inspect the welds on them to make sure they are still attached.
