Work Instructions: How to Replace Rocker Brush Cloth
Preliminary Note:
- Inspect the cloth every 100,000 cars. Replace if the cloth has excess wear.
Be sure to order rocker brush cloth for site-specific equipment.
- If the site has electric motors, order a rocker brush for electric motors.
- If the site has Hydraulic motors, order a rocker brush for hydraulic motors.
Parts Needed:
- Rocker Brush Cloth Hydraulic (P-M2187): P-M2187|Tommy Car Wash
- Rocker Brush Cloth Electric (E-M-2020-1-R)
Tools Needed:
- Impact gun
- 12” extension bar for impact gun
- 3/4” socket
- 3/8” wrench
- Adjustable wrench
Procedure:
- Press in a Wash stop.
- Turn equipment outputs to “off” on the Tommy Controller.
- Use a 3/8” wrench or adjustable wrench to remove the screws from the rocker brush cover. Keep the screws in a safe place.
- Once the cover is removed, use an impact gun with a ¾” socket to remove the 4 nuts from the mounting bolts. (Hydraulic sites will need a 12” socket extension to reach the nuts.)
- Once the nuts are removed, place all the hardware, flat washer, lock washer, and nuts in a safe place to re-use.
- Lift and remove the old rocker brush from the mounting plate.
- Place the new rocker brush onto the mounting plate.
- Put the hardware back onto the mounting bolts and tighten down the nuts.
- Once the nuts have been tightened down, put the cover on to new rocker and tighten the screws down.
- Repeat through the rest of the rockers if replacing all at the same time.
- Pull out the wash stop
- Turn on the rockers and watch the rockers spin. Check for no issues.
- Turn equipment outputs back to “Auto” on the Tommy Controller.
