This procedure explains how to rebuild a MAM Hydra-Flex Cannon using the Hydra-Flex Repair Kit.
This procedure requires the wash to be closed and will take approximately ten minutes to complete.
Safety
Before beginning, wear the required PPE, such as safety glasses, chemical-resistant nitrile gloves, and hearing protection as required by site conditions.
Required Tools and Materials
Required tools and materials include a three-fourths-inch wrench and the Hydra-Flex Repair Kit, which contains a replacement piston, spring, and push rod.
SKU: P-HFI-265
Procedure
- Open the pod and close the main air-supply ball valve at the center of the pod.
- Now, turn off the two main water supply ball valves on the left and right feeding the manifold.
- Identify the function that needs to be rebuilt, then manually activate it on the wash controller to release the pressure.
- At the injector, press the quick-release and remove the Versadial.
- Press and hold the quick connect and remove the air line feeding the Hydra-Flex Cannon.
| WARNING: Residual water and detergent will remain in the injector. Keep the injector pointed away from yourself, other personnel, and equipment. Refer to the applicable SDS for exposure-response procedures. |
- Pull up and hold the bottom quick connect of the Hydra-Flex Cannon, remove the injector, and allow any remaining water to drain before continuing.
- Using a three-fourths-inch wrench, carefully loosen and remove the end cap.
| CAUTION: The end cap is spring-loaded. Keep control of the cap as it is removed. |
- Remove the spring from the valve housing.
- Then, insert the push rod through the injector socket and use it to push the old piston out of the valve housing.
- Prepare the new piston and spring while inspecting the O-rings.
- Insert the new piston into the valve housing with the narrow end facing the injector socket. Press the piston into the housing until it is fully seated.
- Install the new spring on top of the piston.
- Thread the end cap back into the valve housing by hand.
- Once the cap is threaded in, use a three-fourths-inch wrench to snug the end cap. Do not overtighten.
- Reconnect the air line and injector into the Hydra-Flex Cannon.
- Now, reconnect the Versadial into the injector.
- With the Hydra-Flex Cannon fully reassembled, slowly restore the air and water supply.
Verify Operation
- Manually activate the function on the wash controller and verify that the rebuilt Hydra-Flex Cannon operates correctly, that the function activates normally, and that the application sprays as expected.
