This procedure explains how to clear debris or buildup from the half-inch poly line and stainless-steel tubing used to feed a tunnel function.
This procedure requires the wash to be closed and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Warning: Residual water or detergent may remain in the lines. Always confirm the discharge path is clear of personnel, vehicles, and equipment before disconnecting any half-inch poly lines.
Required PPE
Before beginning, confirm the wash is not operating and that proper PPE is worn, including:
- Safety glasses
- Chemical-resistant nitrile gloves
- Hearing protection (when required)
Procedure
- Begin at the arch.
- Locate the half-inch poly line connected to the manifold that feeds into the stainless-steel tubing.
- Disconnect the half-inch poly line from the manifold.
- Move to the POD.
- Locate the half-inch poly line connected to the injector feeding the stainless-steel tubing.
- Disconnect the half-inch poly line from the injector.
- Inspect the inside diameter of both half-inch poly lines for buildup, restriction, or debris.
- If buildup is found inside either poly line, replace the affected half-inch poly line before continuing.
- Insert one foam earplug into the half-inch poly line at the injector side.
- Reconnect the half-inch poly line to the injector.
Warning: The next step uses system pressure to propel the foam earplug through the arch lines. Confirm the half-inch poly line is still disconnected at the manifold in the tunnel and verify the discharge path is clear of personnel and equipment.
- Manually activate the function until the foam earplug exits the disconnected line in the tunnel.
- Repeat the process as needed until the line is clear of debris and buildup.
- Before reconnecting the half-inch poly line at the manifold, confirm that all foam earplugs have been discharged from the line.
- Reconnect the half-inch poly line to the manifold.
- Manually activate the function and inspect the system for leaks.
- Verify proper detergent draw and confirm even application from the stainless-steel tubing at the arch.
