Please see the attached instructions on setting up Tommy Scent. This document also contains links to the Tommy store.
*Note: Setting up these scented products should be performed after hours when the site is closed.
1. Purchase the Tommy’s Express Scent Strategy Launch Kit from the Tommy store. The metering tip package can be found under part number P-DET-2035-K by clicking here and the Versadial package can be found under part number P-DET-2036-K by clicking here. If you already have purchased your launch kit, you can purchase additional Tommy’s Express #2 (Lemon Scent) available in EasyChem and 30 gallon drums here and can purchase additional Tommy’s Express #4 (Vacation Scent) here.
2. Once you have finished the remaining inventory for your old Tommy’s scented product, remove the old draw line, foot valve, weight, and metering tip from the Tommy’s Express #2 (Lemon Scent) tote attached to the front presoak dual 2.0gpm injector for metering tip compatible locations, and directly from the versadial device for versadial compatible locations.
3. Remove the Tommy’s Express #2 tote from underneath your detergent pod and thoroughly clean it out, ensuring the old product is completely removed. Once you are finished cleaning, replace the Tommy’s Express #2 tote back underneath the detergent pod where it originally was.
4. Cut a new draw line provided with your launch kit and install the weight and foot valve to the end of the line. Ensure that you cut the draw line long enough so that the foot valve can touch the bottom of the Tommy’s Express #2 tote once it is attached to the front presoak metering tipped 2.0gpm dual injector or versadial device.
5. Dial in the usage and dilution for your Tommy’s Express #2 (Lemon Scent) on the dual 2.0 front presoak setup. For metering tip compatible sites, install a lime metering tip if you are wanting to establish a stronger scent. If you are targeting cost savings and a weaker scent, install a burgundy tip or even a pumpkin tip as a last resort. For versadial compatible sites, set the dial to 19 if you are wanting to establish a stronger scent. If you are targeting cost savings and a weaker scent, set the dial between 15 – 18, taking volumetrics and assessing scent strength until you achieve your desired results.
6. Then, connect the draw line you cut onto the Dual 2.0gpm front presoak metering tip injector or versadial device, and feed it through the grey cord grip on the Tommy’s Express #2 tote, reattaching the weight and foot valve once it is through the cord grip, before feeding the rest of the line through to the bottom of the tote.
7. Fill up the Tommy’s Express #2 tote with Tommy’s Express #2 (Lemon Scent) product. Use the chemical transfer pump if you purchased a 30 gallon drum and pour directly into the tote if you purchased easy chem containers.
8. Ensure the product is drawing into the injector from the draw line by manually firing the front presoak solenoid or placing your front presoak function to manual on the iPad. Make sure to put the front presoak function back to auto on the iPad once you have confirmed proper suction.
9. Now it is time to setup your Tommy’s Express #4 (Vacation Scent). Start by setting the drying agent function on the iPad to off.
10. Temporarily detach the drawline from your drying agent injector, putting it somewhere in the pod so it does not fall in the Tommy’s Express #7 (Drying Agent) tote.
11. Remove the old injector from the drying agent output in the pod and install the dual 2.25 injector provided with the launch kit
12. Remove the old metering tip or versadial device from the old drying agent injector you removed on step 10 and install it on the new dual 2.25gpm injector you just installed. If the old drying agent metering tip is clogged, please replace with a new one.
13. Reattach the drying agent draw line you removed on step 9 to the 2.25gpm metering tipped dual injector or versadial device you just reattached.
14. Remove the Tommy’s Express #4 tote from underneath your detergent pod and thoroughly clean it out. Once you have finished cleaning, replace the Tommy’s Express #4 tote back underneath the detergent pod where it originally was. If you do not have a Tommy’s Express #4 tote or cannot fit it underneath your detergent pod, contact your FBC or order one from the Tommy store here along with the sharp object #4 label here. For the meantime, please use a stable, 5-10 gallon container and place it under your detergent pod so you can use it to fill it up with Tommy’s Express #4 (Vacation Scent).
15. Cut a new draw line provided with your launch kit and install the weight and foot valve to the end of the line. Ensure that you cut the draw line long enough so that the foot valve can touch the bottom of the Tommy’s Express #4 tote (or temporary container you use underneath the pod) once it is attached to the dual 2.25gpm metering tipped dual injector or versadial device.
16. Dial in the usage and dilution for your Tommy’s Express #4 (Vacation Scent) on the dual 2.25gpm drying agent injector setup. For metering tip compatible sites, install a tan metering tip if you are wanting to establish a stronger, longer lasting scent that will permeate through guest’s vehicles after their wash. If you are targeting cost savings and a weaker scent, install a burgundy, pumpkin, or even a copper tip as a last resort. For versadial compatible sites, set the dial to 19-20 if you are wanting to establish a stronger scent. If you are targeting cost savings and a weaker scent, set the dial between 15 – 18, taking volumetrics and assessing scent strength until you achieve your desired results.
17. Connect the draw line you cut to the dual 2.25gpm drying agent metering tip injector or versadial device and feed it through the grey cord grip on the Tommy’s Express #4 tote, reattaching the weight and foot valve once it is through the cord grip, before feeding the rest of the line through to the bottom of the tote. If you do not have a Tommy’s Express #4 tote, place the draw line with the attached foot valve and weight directly into the container you placed underneath the detergent pod.
18. Fill up the Tommy’s Express #4 tote (or smaller temporary container) with Tommy’s Express #4 (Vacation Scent) product.
19. Ensure the product is drawing into the injector from the draw line by manually firing the drying agent solenoid or placing your drying agent function to manual on the iPad. Make sure to put the front presoak function back to auto on the iPad once you have confirmed proper suction.
20. Enjoy your new Tommy’s scented products!
Helpful Information •
- To determine your usage and cost per car, please take volumetrics. A step by step guide and video tutorial on how to perform volumetrics can be found here.
- Please monitor detergent draw lines for both Tommy’s Express Scent #2 and #4 for swelling and enlargement. These products will cause the drawlines expand, causing the foot valves to sometimes fall off the line inside of the tote. This can cause issues as anything that has settled at the bottom of the totes can suck into the injector, potentially causing clogs. If you identify line swelling in these two products, please replace with a fresh new draw line.
- Monitor wash quality. If you notice any changes in spotting, dry quality (micro beading and water breaking) please reach out to Tommy’s support for additional help. It may be necessary to increase your drying agent application by one more tick on the versadial or the next largest metering tip.
